How does Ellansé® compare with hyaluronic acid fillers

Feb 15,2019

Ellansé – Dermal Fillers

Ellansé has been shown to help stimulate and regenerate collagen in the skin. This natural increase in collagen production is key to the longevity of Ellansé and provides long-term benefits. Ellansé can be found in four variations, lasting up to four years*.

Ellansé offers dual action for reducing the signs of ageing; long-term regeneration of collagen as well as immediate effects of volume and facial contouring, for the correction of wrinkles, folds, sagging and loss of definition.**

What is Collagen?

Collagen is a structural protein present throughout the body, including the skin. Collagen helps provide the structure and strength, by providing integrity, firmness and elasticity. As we age, collagen production and content in the skin reduces, causing the skin to sag and lose elasticity. Also, without these key structural proteins to support the skin, lines and wrinkles begin to appear and grow with time.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the skin however production is naturally reduced with ageing. Hyaluronic acid fillers are injected to generate volume, and to fill fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid fillers tend to be the most temporary option, and therefore are often recommended for first time filler patients. These will typically last from 6 to 18 months1.

The Conclusion

When comparing Ellansé with hyaluronic acid, Ellansé offers several advantages in terms of both longevity and efficiency. Results show that less Ellansé volume needs to be injected to reach the optimal effect2. These attributes associated with polycaprolactone, overall results in lower chances for ‘over-filling’ with Ellansé and longer-lasting and more natural looking results.

Depending on your individual needs and desired results, it is best to consult with your physician before choosing your treatment.

*Expected longevity in-vivo based on extrapolation of clinical data from –S and –M accepted PCL degradation behaviour.
